hii!! for the "i'm not from the us ask game" (which is so interesting btw)
4, 5, 11 and 23
Tumblr media
dw, i’d almost entirely forgotten about it!!! 💀
4. favourite dish specific for your country?
Stamppot rauwe andijvie, always.
Andijvie is a bitter leaf-vegetable related to endives (its latin name is cuchorium endivia). I can’t find any references on it being eaten anywhere other than the Netherlands but please correct me if I’m wrong about that lmao. You can boil/blanch it, but generally we eat it raw. It’s (in my humble opinion) fantastic in ‘stamppot rauwe andijvie’, which is basically just mashed potatoes, chopped andijvie, some spices, and (usually) thick, baked-dry bacon bits. Some people also add cheese, if they finish it off in the oven like a casserole. We tend to add smoked sausage as well.
5. favourite song in your native language?
(choosing was hard) my favourite song is probably Het Regent Zonnestralen by Acda en de Munnik (‘It’s Raining Sunbeams’). I keep coming back to it.
11. favourite native writer/poet?
Omg I don’t actually read a lot of Dutch books anymore, but I suppose Harry Mulisch! He was a Dutch icon and a tremendously prolific author.
Books I enjoyed by Mulisch are Twee Vrouwen (Two Women), a tragic queer romance that plays with the Orpheus and Eurydice myth (opinions on it are… mixed), and De Ontdekking van de Hemel (The Discovery of Heaven), which is considered a masterpiece (it is) and I really… can’t describe it, largely because it’s so long and so much. But it’s beautiful nevertheless.
Some general lit recs (of which there are English translations):
I also really, really enjoyed De Engelenmaker by Stefan Brijs, a Flemish author—‘The Angel Maker’ in English. Creepy and intriguing and wonderful. Brijs sets an incredible tone. Love stuff that plays with hubris.
The other one is a classic and also has a movie: Het Gouden Ei (The Golden Egg) by another Dutch icon, Tim Krabbé. It’s a short thriller and an easy read. Totally recommend it.
23. which alcoholic beverage is the favoured one in your country?
Beer lol. Can’t go wrong with beer here. There’s some spirits too: jenever (the ancestor of gin), a variety of kruidenbitters (spice & herb liquor, very flavourful), and my beloved advocaat (an almost custard-like liquor made of egg(yolk)s, condensed milk, sugar or honey, and an eau de vie).

Let’s talk about my country, shall we?
General    Where is your country?
In Western Europe. The area is commonly known as Benelux.
   How big is your country?
30,528 km2. It’s tiny.
What is the population of your country?
More than 11.5 million.
How would you describe the landscape?
Mostly flat with no real forests on the north, more forests and hills on the south.
Which part of your country do most people live in?
Flanders. It’s smaller than Wallonia, yet more populated.
Tell me about the main industries there.
Metallurgy, steel, textiles, chemicals, glass, paper, and food processing.
How easy is it to travel around your country?
Pretty easy. Except that De Lijn and NMBS are faulty sometimes, most of the time they go. And you can move within the country easily, especially that it’s so small.
Food and drink    What is the food like in your country? Is it based around meat, fish or vegetables?
Our cuisine seems to be “borrowed” from Dutch and French, but we have our own dishes as well. It’s based on all three. My favourite is waterzooi, it’s a dish native to the city of Ghent and made of vegetables and chicken or fish, cooked in cream.
What agricultural products are produced by your country?
Dairy for sure; eggs, butter, and milk. Timber industry as well.
What traditional dishes are served in your country? Which is your favorite? What’s the recipe?
I’ve mentioned waterzooi, which is my absolute favourite. Not to mention fries and waffles. We have two main types of waffles, the Liège waffle and the Brussels waffle, among others. The Liège waffle is dense and very sweet, with cristal sugar. The Brussels waffle is lightweight, less sweet, and shaped like rectangle. Real Belgian fries are baked twice. We have things like Cuberdon candies, rijstevlaai, ontbijtkoek, steak with fries (very common here), chicons au gratin (chicory with white sauce and cheese), stoofvlees (beef stew cooked in beer, if I’m not wrong),  moules-frites (mussels cooked in onions and served with fries),  paling in 't groen (eel with green herbs sauce), or filet américain (also known as préparé, it’s our version of tartar steak). These are what I remember from the top of my head.
What drinks is your country famous for?
Beer, hands down. We have over 2000 types of beer, no kidding. We also drink wine, but it’s not really ours.
What alcoholic drinks are produced in your country?
Beer and probably jenever. Wait, jenever is ours for sure.
Are there any stories behind traditional foods?
Fries are not from France, they’re from Belgium. They’ve been introduced to Americans by Wallonian soldiers.
Political    Is it safe to visit your country?
Generally yes, everyone is welcome here. Although sometimes crimes happen, butb it’s the thing everywhere.
What is the political system in your country?
Constitutional monarchy. Yup I live in a kingdom.
Who is in power at the moment?
King Philippe. As for the prime minister, it’s currently Alexander De Croo.
How is your country dealing with the current financial crisis?
Haha lol. Our taxes azre probably the highest in the whole Europe.
What can you say about the leaders of your country?
Well, this country has no real government and we even broke our own record in longest time without any government. If you wonder how is it possible, look at the tiny trilingual country in Western Europe.
Cities    Where is the capital of your country? Is it on a river, on the coast in the center of the country?
Brussels lol. It’s in between Flanders and Wallonia.
How would you describe the capital city and any other main cities?
Brussels - the city of two languages. Antwerp - the city of diamonds (and of infamous reputation among Belgians lol). Bruges - the city of bridges. Leuven - the city of universities. Hasselt - the city of food and drinks. Ghent - the city of architecture. Can’t say much about the Wallonian cities because I’m much less familiar with them. Although I’m fond of less known (and definitely underrated) cities like Kortrijk, Sint-Niklaas, Veurne, or Nieuwpoort. Or even Oostende.
What special attractions can be found in each city?
Museums, that’s for sure. Architecture, that’s another thing.
Sports and games    What is the most popular sport in your country? How do you play it?
Football and cycling. How do people play it? Like everywhere else.
Are there any sports or games unique to your country?
Both inline skating and cricket were apparently invented by Belgians.
When is the best time to watch them?
Whenever, I don’t care much. Esoecially when there are cycling competitions through my city.
How well does your country do in international competitions?
Apparently pretty well.
Are there any sports that foreign visitors practice in your country?
I don’t get this question, like... our sports are international sports?
Is football (soccer) popular in your country? If so, which are the best teams?
Yeah, football is The Sport in here. The Red Devils, enough said.
Weather    What is the weather like?
Mellow. Hardly ever above 20°C and below 0°C. Mostly rainy, although we can experience “all four seasons” in one day. Thunderstorms seem to be common here at summer. It rarely snows in winter.
Is the weather very different in different parts of the country?
No, actually not. It’s more likely to snow in Ardennes, though.
   Can you describe the seasons?
There’s nothing to describe, all the same.
What is the best time to visit?
Lol. Summer for the beach, winter for Christmas markets. The city I live in is a damn tourist spot.
Language    What languages are spoken in your country?
Dutch, French and German are the official languages here, although German is the minority.
What language do you usually hear on the streets?
Dutch and Arabic lol. We have lots of immigrants.
How many people speak English in your country?
Well, in Flanders everyone is like “but you know, my English is not very good...” and yet in the end they’re able to hold a conversation with you XD such a phenomenon. In Wallonia, though, it’s French or nothing.
Customs    Is there a particular national costume? Can you describe it?
The Huntress gown, look it up please.
Are there any special local dances? What are they like?
Kuskesdans. Just see for yourself.
Tumblr media
   Are the people generally friendly?
Yes, they are. ut at the same time we’re pretty reserved. Even when visiting a friend, you have to announce yourself first.
What are some special customs or traditions in your country?
Horseback fishing in Oostduinkerke? That’s the first thing that came to my mind immediately.
History    What can you tell me about the history of your country?
Congo. Nothing to brag about.
For more history, I’d suggest visiting places like Lommel, Sint-Niklaas, Waterloo or Ieper. Or Dinant.
Did your country gain independence from another country? If so, when and how did this happen?
Yep, from the Netherlands. Declared 4 October 1830, recognised 19 April 1839.

📚✨ Exploring the Lexicon: A Linguistic Adventure! ✨📚
Today, I'am diving into the wondrous world of words, here I've stumbled upon some gems! Get ready to expand your vocabulary with me:
Defenestration - This jaw-dropping word refers to the acts of throwing someone or something out of a window. Yes, you read that right - it's literally launching people out of a window. (Source: Merriam-Webster Dictionary)
2. Limerence - Have you ever experienced that intense, involuntary invasive feeling you can't seem to shake off? That's Limerence. It's that crush you feel when you are head over heels over somebody. As an example: Willem is head over heels over Jasmin and can't stop thinking about her non-stop. (Source mindbodygreen)
3. Pettifogging: Pttifogging describes someone who's overly concerned with minor details, especially in a way that's annoying or pedantic. Imagine this: "During a presentation, Mark wasted everyone's time with his pettifogging question about the font size within the presentation." (Source: Oxford Languages)
4. Kopstootje - Well here is a interesting Dutch word! "Kopstootje" literally translates to "Headbutt" in English, but it's also a traditional Dutch drink. It's a shot of jenever followed by a sip of beer. Perfect for a night out! (Source: Hooghoudt)

Spelt (Triticum spelta), also known as dinkel wheat or hulled wheat, is a species of wheat that has been cultivated since approximately 5000 BC.
Spelt was an important staple food in parts of Europe from the Bronze Age to medieval times. Now it survives as a relict crop in Central Europe and northern Spain, and it has found a new market as a health food. Spelt is sometimes considered a subspecies of the closely related species common wheat (Triticum aestivum), in which case its botanical name is considered to be Triticum aestivum subsp. spelta.
In Germany and Austria, spelt loaves and rolls (Dinkelbrot) are widely available in bakeries, as is spelt flour in supermarkets. The unripe spelt grains are dried and eaten as Grßnkern ("green grain"). In Poland, spelt breads and flour are commonly available as health foods and easy to find in bakeries.
Dutch jenever makers distill with spelt. Beer brewed from spelt is sometimes seen in Bavaria and Belgium, and spelt is distilled to make vodka in Poland.

Kopstootje
The kopstootje is the Dutch equivalent of a boilermaker, but instead of a shot of whiskey and a beer, it’s a shot of jenever and a beer. The jenever, a kind of gin, is poured in tiny tulip shaped glasses right to the brim. In order to drink your shot and not spill all over your shirt, one must bend over and slurp it. Thus the name: kopstootje means “little headbutt” in Dutch.
Usually, the beer is a basic lager, to emphasize the floral flavor of the jenever. But since 2011, Upright Brewing has been making the occasional kopstootje beer with spices found in Dutch gin -- allspice, aniseed, angelica root, cloves, bitter orange, ginger, and of course juniper berries. They’ve served these beers at special jenever pairing events around town, but they haven’t seen wide release, until now.
Last year, the brewers squirreled away some kopstootje in local Vermouth barrels. The result is spiced beer with a balanced tartness and a dry tannin finish. We don’t have any proper Jenever in the house, so we paired it with a few scoops of raspberry and hibiscus coconut yogurt from Eb and Bean.
Kopstootje opens with a lemony farmhouse scent. It’s tart, but with spicy undertones. Raspberry with floral hints around the edges, and a creamy coconut body. Wait. That’s the ice cream. Kopstootje is harder to pin down. The spice is subtle; it’s impossible to draw out any particular flavor from the mass. It’s just sharp and then the acid is sharp. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the beer immensely. The flavor just isn’t as complex I would expect.

What sorts of alcohol do you think Grima imbibes in? I think you might've touched on it in that one modern AU post you did, but in terms of Middle-Earth beverages, what do you think he'd prefer to drink?
I've touched on Middle-Earth preferences as well - it's buried somewhere in a more general Grima Ask, I think.
Anyway! Always happy to talk Grima!
I roll with Grima drinking wine, once he becomes part of the king's household. Purely because of the status symbol aspect of it. Wine is expensive, hard to ship long distances, and I don't think the Rohirrim are vintners so they're importing it. Therefore it is a sign of wealth, power, and status - all things Grima loves. And in the movie we see him with the very rich fabrics and furs, some of which has been quilted (his sleeves) - a technique that is labour intensive and pricey. Therefore, the man loves a good Display of Wealth.
However, while he drinks wine because he can, he prefers mead and ale. Which is what the average person would be imbibing in large quantities (insert ramblings about caloric intake needs and beer).
I don't think Rohan distills anything. They purely ferment. So hard liquors, if they're present, are imported. If they do have hard liquor, I can see Grima liking select whiskies - but those that are spiced/flavoured - because that would replicate the palate he'd be used to. Maybe also some gin/Jenever liquor.
Which leads me to my favourite head-canon: gruit.
I love the idea that Rohan, aside from mead, makes gruit which is beer brewed with barley specifically, no wheat, and using flavouring agents such as yarrow, mugwort, horehound, bog myrtle (i.e., sweet gale), wild rosemary, heather and/or juniper - but it varied heavily depending on the region. This was used predominantly in a pre-hops time.
Cue my question: is beer in middle earth brewed with hops? I say yes for the shire, no for Rohan and Gondor. ?? for the elves. Probably not. They be putting shit like henbane in to get h i g h and see the silmarills in their dreams or something. (Not that you can't do hops + weird ass additions. Exhibit A: Toronto's craft brew scene).
I also enjoy rolling with the idea that Rohan's brewing traditions used, in some parts, the early brewing practices of the celts, picts and gaels where they brewed ale at a high alcohol level (8% and up) and added in things like henbane to ritualize the experience. Up in what is now Scotland they would add heather as a flavouring agent (also added some mild psychoactive aspects too). This lends itself to my joke of it being Grima "get drunk, do drugs, commit treason" son of Galmod.
Essentially, since Rohan is based on Anglo-Saxon England, ain't no one sober in this society. Which explains a lot. They drink heavy and hard and I don't see Grima being an exception to this.
So yeah! Long story short: he publicly consumes wine because it's a Status Thing (look at my wine, and the pineapple on my table, and oh what is this?? a tomato! and an orange in winter! I am rich). But deep in his heart, his preference is for mead and ale, the more day-to-day alcohol.
Thank you so much for the ask!! Have I thought a lot about Rohan's brewing culture? Maybe. A little. Should I write something with Grima trying to bring in a licensing system in order to incur more revenue for the crown? Maybe.

Herve. If you're a lover of German Limburger, this cheese is for you. Known at Dussa's as a "super stink!", eating this Belgian cheese will surely let you know who your friends are! Herve has the same buttery texture as Limburger, juxtaposed with a chocolaty earthiness that penetrates through from its gooey orange rind. These two Herves have been washed with liquor- one with Belgian Beer, the other with Belgian Jenever, a famous aperitif from the region. * * * #herve #limburger #belgiancheese #stinkycheese #superstink #germancheese #belgim #germany #cheese #charcuterie #wine #beer #spirits #washedrind #jenever #aperetif #southgranville #granvilleisland #granvilleislandpublicmarket #dussashamandcheese https://www.instagram.com/p/B37gca_hFcF/?igshid=8ho562zzuffg

Culture, parallels & meta - S3 E3
Zaterdag 08:10
Perfect parallel: An upset Robbe being little spoon to Noor this episode, him being a relaxed little spoon to Sander in the last one.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Moyo has half eaten wafers cookies on his bed. Between the cellphone time and timestamp, it took Robbe five minutes to get dressed and to the beach. The beautiful angel pendant makes its first appearance.
Bonus: This cinematography trick of using a wide shot with nobody else in the sight, makes us actually feel how lonely Robbe actually is.
Tumblr media
°
Zaterdag 08:23
C is for culture: “Vamanos” - As you may have noticed, Flemish has a lot of words that aren’t typically Dutch. These are called ‘leenwoorden’ (= ‘borrowing words’). In some cases, the language has made the word its own, with their conjugation or sound (like barbecue - barbecuet - or e-mail - ge-e-maild), other times the expression is copied completely (like smartphone or laptop). There are various reasons as to why people don’t want to change it: globalization, wanting to be more vague/cool, general laziness, ...
Perfect parallel:
Sander’s playful “Are you the manager?” and “That’ll be zero stars on Booking.com” to Robbe when they meet in this episode, Sander’s sheepish “Zero stars on Booking.com” and Robbe’s pointed “Where is that manager when you need him?”, when they have their fall-out in a later episode.
Sander saying “When I booked this room, I explicitly asked for room-service” here and him actually booking a room with room-service for the both of them later on.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jens’ keyboard is lying on top of the closet. Sander grabbing his keys (to his car?).
°
Zaterdag 08:44
C is for culture: The option to use self-scanning is pretty common in Belgian supermarkets, especially in shop-and-go city stores. You pick up the scanner, scan the stuff you buy, go to a counter, pay and walk out with your groceries. A sales assistant is still present to help out with problems or do random routine checks. It’s fast, easy and cost-efficient. The downside? Shoplifting becomes a bit easier this way.
That’s character: Sander is putting up a ‘cool guy, devil may care’ facade. He jokes about not scanning everything, dismisses Amber’s list, whirls the shopping cart around and sings David Bowie to this boy. He wants to make a lasting impression on Robbe. If he’s the most charming, chaotic and adventurous version of himself, then he doesn’t have to think about other stuff like his own crumbling relationship. (Also the reason why he doesn’t answer the question about Amber: they simply met through Britt). As the boxes fall down, so does Sander’s tough exterior, as he never intended to hurt Robbe by playing around in the supermarket.
Robbe’s clumsiness meter: +3, he almost topples off the cart twice and drops the chocolate bars on the floor. (The crash with Sander isn’t his fault though)
Oopsie:
Sander is wearing a leather jacket, but we don’t see it in the previous clip. Either he left it in his car or it’s an ‘oopsie’.
When Sander accidentally tosses Robbe into the boxes, we hear glass breaking. However, in the next shot, the boxes seem to empty (and they were supposed to be filled with chips, which don’t make that sound).
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Sander is wearing black Converse. They bought Jupiler beer. Robbe pulls out ‘Delhaize’ Biscuit chocolate bars and Florentin cookies.
Tumblr media
°
Zaterdag 13:13
C is for culture: "Croques” - The word ‘croque’ is an abbreviation for ‘croque monsieur’ (= ‘crunch mister’). These are grilled ham-and-cheese sandwiches, a typical greasy snack at taverns, markets, carnivals, your home, ... Other versions include the ‘croque madame’ topped with a fried egg, ‘croque bolognese’ with bolognese sauce, ‘croque hawai’ with a pineapple slice.
That’s character: It’s clear that Robbe has no idea how to eat properly. All throughout the season he eats unhealthy breakfasts (choco spread with cookies), snacks (chips, cookies) and dinners (Aïki noodles, frozen lasagna). But here we see the reason: he doesn’t seem to know how to cook or work a stove. Exactly why he buys prepackaged or instant food options. So, it’s probably for the best that Zoë helps out his eating habits.
Perfect parallel:
Robbe making an unhealthy breakfast in the previous episode, Sander providing him with an unhealthy snack in this one. (The way to a man’s heart is through the stomach)
Britt’s condescending “Listening to David Bowie again?” in this episode, her calling Robbe his next obsession similar to David Bowie later on.
Sander’s “Do you know where I can find the coffee?” to Robbe in an earlier scene and his “Was coffee on the list?” to Amber here.
Robbe’s clumsiness meter: +2, he stumbles backwards after Sander touches his shoulder and burns himself after turning the ‘croque’.
Nod to the OG: This kitchen scene is the equivalent of the ‘5 fine frøkner’ scene, as Sander sings his favorite song to Robbe and makes breakfast, whilst both flirt with each other (subtly).
Oopsie: They supposedly went to ‘Delhaize’ for all their groceries, but the ketchup bottle comes from ‘Carrefour’ and the butter from ‘Colruyt’.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Sander messes up the first words to ‘Under Pressure’ - it’s ‘pressure’ not ‘under pressure’. He mixes the weed with tobacco for his joint. The conflict on Sander’s face at the end.

C is for culture: "What kind of shit question is this?” - They’re playing ‘De Slimste Mens ter wereld’ (= ‘The smartest human on earth’), a board game by the popular Flemish television show with the same name. The quiz is very challenging. People have to solve associative, general knowledge and out-of-the-box questions with multiple answers in different rounds. Points are awarded in the form of seconds, which are used during the game. The candidate with time left at the end, wins.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The group is drinking white wine out of plastic cups. Sander studied at ‘de!Kunsthumaniora’, the same school as Noor. Sander’s wearing his combat boots again.

C is for culture: Aaron is wearing a bunny costume for the paintball game ‘Hunt the bunny’. This is usually played by people on a bachelor party or a corporate team building (with the groom/boss as the bunny). The goal is simple: the bunny has to cross the field from one corner to another, whilst the hunters shoot as much paintballs as possible to ‘kill’ it. Which is... rather painful, especially at close range.
Oopsie: What they’re doing is actually illegal or even impossible. People aren’t allowed to play paintball in protected environments, like dunes. Unless they’re doing it with a specialized organization who’s trained for these games (and are present at the time of playing) or have the written permission from the ‘Agency of Nature and Forest’, the police, the city, ... There is a whole heap of permissions, administrative papers and laws to deal with.
Lost in translation: Britt saying “Doe normaal” (= “Act normal”) has nothing to do with her dismissing Sander’s mental health. This Flemish phrase is often used to calm people down, telling them that they’re acting rather irrationally or childish. It’s an angry way of saying “Can’t you behave yourself? Calm down. What are you doing? Be rational!”.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The blue and red flags tells us that they’re going to play ‘capture the flag’. Some of the ‘pfff’ gun sounds you hear, indicate that the air pressure needs to be checked. Moyo took off his protection mask, which is dangerous and sometimes considered a foul during the game.

Dinsdag 20:02
C is for culture: "Do you know how to make s’mores?” - Toasting marshmallows above a campfire, isn’t really a tradition in Belgium. So that’s why the girls don’t know how to make s’mores.
Lost in translation: ’Smoor’ is a Flemish dialect word for smoke or the act of smoking. It does sound a lot like ‘s’mores’. This is why Luca thinks Aaron wants to hold the marshmallow into the fire.
Oop, there it is, the homophobia / heteronormativity: Of course Robbe had nothing to lose with Noor, he wasn’t actually interested in her. With Sander, however, Robbe doesn’t dare to do anything.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Aaron is drinking ‘Bock’ beer. Amber looks at Aaron like she really likes him, when he’s preparing the s’mores.

C is for culture:
“An old german bunker” - The province of West-Flanders as well as its coast still has a lot of remnants left from WWI. From German bunkers to trench-networks, burial sites and museums, the 'Great war’ left its traces. Unsurprisingly, every year, people still find around 300 tons of (active) bombs underneath the fields.
“Around ‘All Souls’ Day’ they come back to life” - ‘All Souls’ Day’ is a christian holiday on the 2nd of November, on which the dead are commemorated. However, since that day isn’t an official holiday in Belgium, people visit the graves and honor of their loved ones on the 1st of November, ‘All Saint’s Day’.
The group drinking ‘jenever’ shots - ‘Jenever’ (known in English as ‘Dutch gin’ or ‘genever’) is a traditional liquor in Belgium and the Netherlands. Young people usually drink these colored, high percentage spirits at Christmas markets, pre-drinks or parties when it’s cold outside. Different flavors include vanilla, chocolate, berries, lemon, apple, ...
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The wooden panel behind Jens says ‘Volg de pijlen’ (= ‘Follow the arrows’). Aaron and Amber are holding hands after their fall. Robbe downs a chocolate-cream ‘jenever’ shot at the end.
°
Woensdag 21:53
Perfect parallel: Robbe lashing out at his friends in this episode - he feels left out and confused about his sexuality - and blames the pranks. Him doing the same in the next - he thinks his friends are hypocrites by saying homophobic comments to him yet defending the gay teacher - and blames the vlogs.
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: The second living room has a spinning disco light.
°
Donderdag 21:12
C is for culture:
“In dat jeugdhuis” - A ‘jeugdhuis’ (= ‘youth house’) is a meeting place, run by young volunteers. All teens and young adults are welcome to hang out, throw parties, drink at their bar, organize concerts, attend workshops - just making the space their own.
“He sounded like a begging Romanian” - Luca is referring to Romanian Romani families, who roam around in the streets of Brussels begging for some money. These ethnic groups have a mostly negative image amongst the Europeans. Which is why she states this harsh and hurtful comparison.
Perfect parallel: Noor asking Robbe for a playlist so she can listen to his favorite songs here, Sander actually making a Bowie playlist for Robbe in the next episode.
Lost in translation: Luca is mocking the West-Flemish dialect by copying what the boy said, namely “Moe’en julder ok ‘n flyer ‘ennen?”. This dialect is known for blowing their ‘g’ and ‘h’ so that they sound similar, conjugating their 'yes’ or ‘no’, having double subjects, seemingly swallowing some letters, among other things. It’s one of the most confusing and difficult dialects for the Flemish to understand themselves.
Oopsie: When Aaron asks Amber if she needs a drink, Britt and Sander are dancing right behind him. When she answers and walks away, they’re suddenly gone, only to be seen again when Moyo walks over.
Nod to the OG/Wink to other remakes: The ‘call your girlfriend’ kiss, duh!
Tumblr media
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Jana is wearing one white contact lens.
°
Vrijdag 08:43
Perfect parallel:
Sander searching for coffee first thing in the morning earlier this episode and him pouring a cup before any task in this clip.
Sander’s “Maybe I’m scared that I will never find someone” here and Robbe’s multi-layered “I’m so happy that I found you” in the last episode.
Oopsie: When the boys walk to the recycling spot, the lighting changes from sunny to clouded to dark in a matter of seconds.
Funny coincidence: Sander referring to his relationship as ‘ups and downs’, probably similar to his experience with bipolarity.
Wink to other remakes: An almost kiss near trash, remind you of certain Italian boys?
Blink-and-y’ll-miss-it: Amber delegating tasks, but doing nothing herself. Robbe smiles for a few milliseconds, because Sander touched him. The flash of panic in Robbe’s eyes afterwards.

What is your MC's favourite Winter/Christmas treat?
Christmas is the only time of the year Julia fancies herself a shot of jenever and a pint of beer.
And ews at Aesop's firewhiskey, it is an important tradition.
